10th Nass: Why North Central Zone Deserves the Speakership.

The Arewa Youths Advocate for Peace and Unity Initiative has joined other civil Societies Organizations in drawing the attention of the National Working Committee of the Rulling All Progressive Congress and the President elect HE. Asiwaju Bola Ahmad Tinubu to see the Peace and Unity of the country a priority.

Speaking in Gombe,the National President of the group Sani Mohammed faulted the Zoning of the Office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Deputy Senate President to the North West region leaving behind the North Central without an office of a Preside Officer.

It is so unfortunate and condemnable that as our democracy keep soaring higher despite the challenges,the political leaders are yet to learn the lessons of the previous experience and keep repeating the same mistake that consumed other administration.

We can recall very well the role the North Central Zone played in the just Concluded Presidential elections despite the narrative of exclusions been sold against the persons of the President and the Vice President elect citing religious and ethnic bigotries.

The Region stood wholeheartedly with the decision of the party and its Presidential Candidate which paid very well and shaped the outcome of the Presidential elections by given the Party 1.2m votes.

What is so surprising in the Zoning arrangements is leaving behind the current Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Maje,Rt. Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi and host of others from the region from this unhealthy Zoning bruahaha.

The reason why we are adding our voice as a young advocates of Peace building in the region and beyond is because the leadership of the national Assembly has its consequential effects on the members of general public irrespective of party,tribal or religion affiliations.

Considering the over increasing Political agitations and raising tensions on ground of Marginalization in the power balancing and sharing across the six Geopolitical Zones of the country.This is the first time in this history of this country that two offices for Presiding Officers are been zone to a single Region and this does not reflect the tenets of equity, fairness and justice.They added.

Comr. Auwal Suspended from office as National President,Yobe State Students.

The National Union of Yobe State Students (NUYOSS) has announced the suspension of its national President Comr. Auwal Gambo Salisu with immediate effect due alleged blackmail, bribery, corruption and money laundering. In a letter signed by the Rt. Hon. Abdulaziz Maina Isa , the speaker of the Yobe State Students Representatives Assembly and the clerk of the Assembly Comrade Yusuf Lusa (CP) and made available to newsmen in Damaturu. The suspension has the endorsement of the two third majority of the members of the Students Representatives Assembly, National Union of Yobe State Students NUYOSS. They statement barred the suspended President from the premises of the Union untill further directives while investigations are ongoing for the period of two weeks which the said leadership will issue further directives on the matter in question. By: John Ephraim The National and State Houses of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal holding at Bauchi in the matter of rerun election into the office of senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for Plateau North Senatorial District held on 3rd February, 2024 on Friday, reserved judgement in the petition filed by Yakub Muhammad Shafiu and his NNPP against INEC, Dachungyang Pam Mwadtkom, ADP. Yakubu H. Ruba SAN Lead Counsel for the Petitioners The Petitioners approached the tribunal challenging the declaration of Dachungyang Pam Mwadtkom or 2nd Respondent by INEC (1st Respondent) as the winner of the rerun election. The main ground upon which the petition is predicated is that the 2nd Respondent as of the time of the election, was not qualified to contest the election having allegedly presented a forged certificate to 1st Respondent (INEC). The Petitioners are alleging that the 2nd Respondent in Form EC9 deposed that he obtained FSLC in 1975 and SSCE in 1982.
