North East NANS Stakeholders Forum berates FG abandonment of Mambila Hydropower Project.

The North east Nans stakeholders Forum has Condemed in strong terms the inability of the Federal Government of Nigeria to complete Mambila Power Project located at Taraba State. 

The Spokesman of the Forum Prince Mohammed Sani Hassan disclosed this over the weekend while  assessing some Federal Government Projects Situated in the North East region as Mambila Power Project remain the most important of all considering its economic viability and impact to the zone.

The report by the BBC Hausa is touching and disheartening which has now so much concerns to the credibility of those handling this project Particularly the Federal Ministry of Power under the current Government of Muhammadu Buhari.

Mambila Hydropower Project has so far consumed billion of Naira unaccounted funds since the beginning of this project by successive governments in Nigeria and our expectations is that it will be different under this Government.

 it's visible that not a single shovel has been mobilised to site.This is in spite of the promise made by PMB-led administration to start and complete the project. On  yearly basis, budget for the project is made but to no avail. The abandonment of this project further proves the widespread assertion that the Federal Government is not concerned with the development of the northeast region of Nigeria given the attention given to the region where president Buhari comes from. 

The Dutse-Kano-Maradi Railway line project is currently being executed in earnest with about 1.2 trillion Naira contract sum. To me Mambila  Hydropower project is a hoax and we need a president that values and appreciate the God-given potentials of the northeast and has the zeal and determination to come to the rescue of the region for the overall economic benefit of the country.

This is an eye open for the people of North East to known who to support comes 2023 we are not really happy with the development of our region under the administration of this current government,  in fact is a slapp to the face of our Senators, Members House Of representatives, and minister. Infact our governors need to meet with the president regarding this matter.

We are using this medium to call on the attention of the Federal Government of Nigeria to as a matter of urgency revisit the Mambila Hydropower Project considering its economic viability and impact to the North East region and ensure that the project is follow to the logical conclusion.

Nigerians are living witnessed how the rulling APC Government used this project as a tool to woe electorates in 2019 with an assertion that it was at 80% completion at the time land was not allocated. It was very clear that the first public appearance of the immediate past Minister of Power Saleh Mamman didn't went well with the benificiaries of the unexecuted project.

We are Nigerians and fortunate enough from the North East region where this project is sited and knowing fully the economic importance of the project is the sold reason why we are holding this press briefing today. As we speak, It has been proven beyond any reasonable doubt that our leaders within zone are less concern with mega projects in Taraba State because their Presence at the corridors of Power is not beyond addressing Public gatherings. 

We shall ensure that by the year 2023 these kind of leaders are not allow to return to the corridors of Power because we have the number and we have the PVCs to send them out of office. We are currently setting an assessment team that will move round the 6 States that made up the North East on fact finding mission to see how far it has gone with all the Federal Government projects before coming with a communique.  They said.

Comr. Auwal Suspended from office as National President,Yobe State Students.

The National Union of Yobe State Students (NUYOSS) has announced the suspension of its national President Comr. Auwal Gambo Salisu with immediate effect due alleged blackmail, bribery, corruption and money laundering. In a letter signed by the Rt. Hon. Abdulaziz Maina Isa , the speaker of the Yobe State Students Representatives Assembly and the clerk of the Assembly Comrade Yusuf Lusa (CP) and made available to newsmen in Damaturu.
