Rt.Hon.Wase; The greatest law maker that ever from Plateau.By: Sani Danaudi Mohammed

Rt.Hon. Idris Maje Wase is the longest serving meMajember of the House of representatives from Plateau State along his closest neighbour Hon.Benni Lar who is equally Serving her fourth term as member Representing the good people of Langtang North and South Federal constituency.History has it that this two members has done remarkably well as legislators compare other Six combined together from 1999 to date. Wase as it stands as the ranking Federal law maker from Plateau State since his election as the Deputy Speaker of the House of representatives in June 2019 which has widened and expanded his constituency from speaking only for the people of Wase Federal constituency but has a privilege to oversee the seating of the 360 Federal law makers as Deputy Presiding Officer.

The Deputy Speaker has all the requisite qualities to serve as the Speaker of the Federal House of representatives but unfortunate as it may be Zoning arrangements produced his Principal Rt.Hon. Femi Bajamiamila from the South West. Plateau and Benue States are for long known to be brothers alike going by their history long before the creation of the two States .It was Benue-Plateau and up till today the two States still enjoyed this fruitful relationships of brotherhood. The two States has for long been the frontline and epicenter of ecthnic and religion crisis within the North Central States of which Politics that are guided within these sentiments has denied some experience and credible Muslims Politicians to grow making the former Deputy Senate President Senator Nasiru Ibrahim Mantu the opportunity return for the third term in a controversial re-run elections that saw a retired military officer Sati Gogwin defeating the Mighty Mantu.

It is on records that no Senator on the Plateau has done 1/3 of what the former Deputy Senate President did in his eight years term as Senator Representing the good people of Plateau Central but all these great achievements were overlooked and he was thrown away. Rt.Hon.Idris Maje Wase is now a victim of the similar circumstances reason been that his actions to overule and stoped Hon.Gilbah from Benue State from laying a petition on the floor of the House of representatives is not going well with the Deputy Speaker particularly from those from Benue and Plateau States.Plateau people are known to have spirits of supporting and defending ill-timed motives long as it concerns a Plateau man but it seem the case is not the same in the case of Maje Wase.

Who is a Plateau man? We have seen how the social media was aggoged when the Chairman of House committee on Federal character Hon. Kusada invited the Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos to explained and answer few questions on his stewardship in a Federal Government owned Institution. We have equally seen the people of Plateau stood with another son of the soil Joseph Arry among to many to mention of which Maje Wase deserved the same as a Plateau man. His well of experience in leadership management will have earned him the seat of the Governor in Plateau but the factors hunting him remain a serious obstacles for him to move beyond his constituency of Wase as far as elective Political Offices is concern on the Plateau.

The Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives was a couple of days ago, amidst a tangle or web of controversy following his response to a colleague about a petition he raised on the floor of the house and signed by a Tiv group from the USA. First, I have never come across the rules and regulations of the house and neither am I fully aware of the proceedings or codes of conduct of the house. So I am neither holding brief for the Deputy Speaker or Hon.Gbillah from Benue State. The rage displayed on social media has been gravely unbalanced and most of the commentators have not yet read a response from the Rt. Hon. Wase. This is a federal legislator with over 16years of legislative experience and have headed several committees including that of petitions. I am not the one to defend or uphold an opinion about whose petition qualifies but I am aware that the concerns of Nigerians in diaspora equally matters. I have friends and family abroad and overseas who constantly share their thoughts and lay their grievances when it matters. They render their informed analogies on policies coming from a working system and even go ahead to offer their services when required. Their plights are valid and that is a fact I am aware Rt. Hon. Wase also understands. I am sure Wase will not never do anything to undermine any Nigerian as many has short-changed the whole story to because his anticidence spoke in high volume his readiness to build a prosperous country through his heavy investment in Youths and women since he became a Federal legislator.

What I don’t understand is how and why a vicious attack is rendered on a man who have for the past many years, worked to defend the rights of Nigerians and have even given several opportunities to numerous citizens on the Plateau and the country in general. Rt. Hon. Idris Wase has over 16 years of quality representation that earned him the current position as Deputy Speaker of the House of representatives even though only few in the State stood with him on his earlier dreamt to be the Speaker before later arrangements came in.
Since he becomes the Deputy Speaker of the house of Representatives,He has brought together all the sons and daughters of the members of the House of representatives under the same Platform to champion the way forward to rescue the State from its long depression of division along ecthnic and religion lines.

This is a man that appointed key Plateau sons and daughters as his Senior legislative aides when he emerged as the Deputy Speaker of the House of representatives because most if not all within his kitchen cabinets were one time Federal law makers from Plateau State which shows a lot of commitment and great concerns to his State of Plateau. I am totally against and disappointed with  the attack on Maje and tagging him as a someone working against the success of the middle belt and Plateau just because of the Saga that are beyond all of us to explain due our none conversant with the rules of the house. He deserves a national accord , supported and encouraged as a Plateau man currently who currently occupied legislative seat from the State who always focus on how to improve the lives of the common man irrespective of his tribes and religion. As people ,We should know that it is not everything that is faced can be change but nothing can be change until it is Face and as it is stand today Maje Wase is a reflection of the saying that " He is a Lion King leading the Army of sheep" .This sum up the leadership qualities of Rt.Hon. Maje Wase who deserves only the respect, prayers and support of a Plateau to continue his giant strides as the Deputy Speaker of Federal House of representatives and subsequently the Speaker come 2023.

He is is indeed one in a Million and a leader who always see opportunities even in the midst of pandemic rather than seeing obstacles and this is why today he is Standing as the Deputy Speaker of the house of Representatives. It wasn't the wish of many but he has focused and ignored all those who perceived him as a treat and as an enemy to build a viable and sound legislative laws that will further strengthen our bones of friendship beyond our exigencies of our religion and tribes nor regional identities to move Plateau State and the country forward. He is second to none with his rich history of Nigerian legislative experience and his Professionism tell the world why he cannot be ridiculed at this point after his many years of effective representation to not only his people and the state, but the nation at large. Don't allow sentiments to take this great Nigerian from Plateau State Politics like it took away the former Deputy Senate President Nasiru Ibrahim Mantu.
