As part of efforts to encourage youth participation in politics and governance, a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) called ‘Lead Generation Initiative’ on Friday organized a two day training to youth selected from Bauchi and Gombe states on leadership and governance.


Founder of the NGO and member representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola and Iwajowa constituency of Oyo state in the federal house of representatives Honourable Shina Abiola Peller while declaring the workshop open in Bauchi explained that the training tagged ‘Get Involved Leadership Training was meant to promote youth involvement in politics.


 He said the organization was established to create opportunities for young people to channel their creativity, energy and aspirations to add value to their communities. According to the founder ,most Nigerians lacks capacity training to explore and as such this is an opportunity for them to use their maximum potentials.


We are aware that the voice of every young Nigerian needs to be heard. We want to galvanize, train, support and raise the voices and stake of the Nigerian youth. Nigerian youths are hardworking and has all the knowledge but lack ethical reorientation to achieve their goals and this program by lead generation initiative will equip them with the skills and knowledge to achieve that, he added .


He further said , We are building a new generation of young people that take responsibility for fixing their communities and country through active participation in the socio-political process”. He said. Our targets is to reach out to all the 774 local governments areas in Nigeria because as it is presently we are training local government supervisors two from each local government that will later to same to their wards .


Shina who also noted that the Lead Generation Initiative intends to be Nigeria’s foremost organized movement for socio-political, economic and cultural change and development urged the youth to take their destiny into their own hands and run for various elective offices in the next elections.


Also speaking, the secretary of Lead Generation Initiative Ekpa Stanley Ekpa said the training was sponsored by them adding that Yiaga Africa was engaged to teach the participants.

He stated that they sponsor different types of trainings including that of youth, women’s leadership development program and creativity and craft program aimed at supporting youth entrepreneurs.

Comr. Auwal Suspended from office as National President,Yobe State Students.

The National Union of Yobe State Students (NUYOSS) has announced the suspension of its national President Comr. Auwal Gambo Salisu with immediate effect due alleged blackmail, bribery, corruption and money laundering. In a letter signed by the Rt. Hon. Abdulaziz Maina Isa , the speaker of the Yobe State Students Representatives Assembly and the clerk of the Assembly Comrade Yusuf Lusa (CP) and made available to newsmen in Damaturu. Yakubu H. Ruba SAN Lead Counsel for the Petitioners The Petitioners approached the tribunal challenging the declaration of Dachungyang Pam Mwadtkom or 2nd Respondent by INEC (1st Respondent) as the winner of the rerun election. The main ground upon which the petition is predicated is that the 2nd Respondent as of the time of the election, was not qualified to contest the election having allegedly presented a forged certificate to 1st Respondent (INEC).
