Gov. Godwin Obaseki: A Feud with a wrong person at the wrong time.Adam Ilyaas Ishaq

The fact is that for a politician to achieve what he wants to achieved in his/her carrier in Nigeria, one may need  to believe in God fatherism and loyalty. These two words are very key and form part of politics critical success factor. A politician who neglected them may cause his  dream journey slowed or sometimes even fall in the process.

A good recent examples were in 2019 General Election where we saw the fall of the like of the then Gov. Ambode of Lagos, Senator Shehu Sani and Senator Dino Melaye. The most lucky one at that time  was Gov. Umar Ganduje of Kano state; Even him, his victory caused so much controversy and many believed the election was rigged in his favor. All of them believed  loyalty is not necessary and  God Fatherism in politics exist not.

The same suit Godwin Abaseki followed ahead of Edo state Governorship election and may lead him to his friends destination.
Mr. Adam Oshomole was Gov Obaseki predecessor who marketed him to Edo state people and later got sold and became who he is today. With this made Mr.Oshomole automatically  his Boss and  of course loyalty is expected.

Oshomole influence does not only limited to being predecessor of the incumbent but a National chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC). This alone gives him Absolute power and control in making decision within the party.

I think Obaseki missed two great opportunities to utilize before now which would have help for his re-election. The first missed Opportunity was to cease fire and embrace the  lengthy negotiation with his boss  even if he did not truly meant it in his heart. And  most importantly he may even decides to  renew the feud after the election since it will be his second and last tenure. Another opportunity important besides that one was to leave APC  and join a party that he thinks will be profitable. As of now both these opportunities seem to be escaped and late to implement. Obaseki now found himself under Oshomole shoes and the latter can shoot him in a direction probably outside the field which may be beyond through in.
Oshomole as a chairman of the party may  decide not to clear Obaseki for the primary election and nobody will tell him why. Mama Taraba can explain better.
