COVIG-19 A SYMBOL OF NATIONAL UNITY : SANI DANAUDI MOHAMMED
The situation around the world and Nigeria inclusive is no longer news on how fast the deadly Corona virus is spreading with Nigeria having 23 cases including the recent outbreak from Ondo State . This is indeed a trial moment for all of us not just in Nigeria but the world at a glance . The covig-19 has so far shut down almost all economic activities in the world with millions loosing their jobs on daily basis .As Nigerians that came together since 1914 and became an independent nation 59 years ago we should have been more like a twins instead of perceived enemies that we have become but today we have seen a national collaboration in dealing with this disaster . This should be how we can come under the same umbrella in tackling our narionat problems without giving much regards to our regions, tribes and religion .
The border closure due to this disease is the only choice we have and I am much glad that Mr President has taken all necessary measures to ensure drastical reduction in the spread of the virus and it is a time to rally round all the authorities in place to curtail this Pandemic. I am glad that the federal and state governments has taken all necessary measures to curtail this virus but my great concern is the lack of isolation centres in about four out of six geopolitical zones of Nigeria where only South West and South has so far has isolation centres according to an unconfirmed reports . I write this piece in pains and total shocking with the diverstating news of Covig-19 but equally a happy man that once a lifetime Nigeria is able to abandoned all the elements of the divisive tendencies to unite in fighting a common enemy . We are able to this because the Covig-19 speak none of our languages neither do it placed emphasis to any of our religion .
The government at all level must as a matter of urgency come up with this isolation centres to help in dealing with the situation at the early stage . Hospitals made for general treatment of other illness should not be used in dealing with Corona virus as well so that we don't get other infected . As Nigerians that placed high emphasis on religion ,tribes and Political affiliation at all times ,We should know that the virus worhsip none of our religion neither does it speak any of our languages that has kept us far away from each other . Our schools and even the places of worships has been temporary closed due to this incident and it is a time to unite in fighting a common enemy .
I read from the page of the honorable Minister of communication and Digital Economy Dr. Pantami who announced that the Annur weekly preaching is ongoing to be online which means even his position as Minister he cannot access the place of worships while making reference to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia . I was touched and moved by his statements which means it is a time we all unite against our sentiments of tribes ,regional, religion and Political differences to overcome this our common enemy that give no emphasis to any of these elements that has kept us far away from each other . I want to state in very clear terms that the Covig-19 has unites Nigeria against all elements of divides .
